There will be NO sunflowers at the Pope Farm Conservancy in 2021.
The Friends group stopped hosting the Sunflower Days event after 2017 due to safety concerns over increasing crowd size (+100K visitors) and limited parking at the conservancy. The Friends group now focuses its efforts on advancing and facilitating educational opportunities (school field trips) and interpretive programming (public talks/tours) at Pope Farm Conservancy for students and the public. We also offer volunteer opportunities on site, such as a series of prairie seed collection, monarch butterfly tagging, a trail steward program, and more.
On July 21st, we’ll be hosting a “History of the Land Tour” where you can learn more about the conservancy’s importance as a natural area for people to connect with the land and as a protected habitat for birds and wildlife.
All of our programs are free and open to the public! There will also be volunteer opportunities such as Monarch Butterfly tagging and prairie seed collection in the late summer and early fall.
